Folded Patchwork Day School

Folded patchwork is one of my favourite techniques. Following on from the successful day school last year I have extended the technique to include other shapes for this fun cushion cover.

Everyone was so busy they didn't have time to chat

But we made time at the end of the day to admire everyones work.

Some of the beautiful blocks made on the day.

If you would like me to visit your group to teach this technique, or any of my other day schools, email me at rmcreativestitches@hotmail.com

Grasmere Quilt Pattern

It is lovely to see your designs come to life and on Wednesday I had the pleasure of seeing one of my students make a block from my Grasmere quilt pattern.

When I designed the Grasmere quilt I wanted it to resemble a Victorian hall floor, a wonderful tiled mosaic hall floor. The sample was worked in Moda's Hawthorn Ridge range of fabrics, a lovely combination of purple and green which created a dramatic and striking quilt.

Gill has chosen these beautiful warm chocolate browns for her quilt,

Cherry chose pinks and purples for her beautiful quilt

And Judith chose a soft taupe and cream colour scheme.

It is wonderful to see the same design in many the different colourways.

The pattern is now available from my Etsy shop and my local Patchwork & Quilting shops.

More Colourful Parrots

I had a  wonderful day yesterday teaching the parrot stained glass patchwork panel with some very enthusiastic patchworkers in Huntingdon.

We had a very busy day as you can see from the photos.
As a teacher it is very rewarding when you teach a technique and see the different interpretations your students create with it.

Some managed to start adding the outlining which defines the parrots and I look forward to seeing the finished panels. I hope you enjoy seeing their work and if you would like to book a day school please contact me.

Students Work

It is always lovely when students complete their projects and this week was one of those weeks.

Robert completed his Bargello Quilt - The Aurora Borealis
When he brought this book in to class we had a lovely time helping him choose which one he was going to make. It is full of lovely designs and it has been a pleasure helping Robert with this project.
We all love the colours he chose for the quilt and I especially love the zingy lime green. He has quilted it to emphasise the flow of the bargello pattern which has worked to great effect.
I am sure you will agree that it is a fantastic quilt.

Fliss had nearly finished this wonderful childs quilt, and I couldn't resist taking a photo before the end of the class. The turned nine patch pattern is a great design and can be used for all sorts of projects and it looks great on this quilt. The curved line quilting going from point to point is so well done.
Another wonderful project and I can't wait to see what she tackles next time.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing some of my students work.

Looking Forward

Happy Chinese New Year ( year of the Rooster ) to you all

It has been a difficult time as I have had problems with my eyes for a few months now. I have developed cataracts and have had one operation to correct the lens in one eye, I am looking forward to getting the other eye done now as things are slightly off balance and working is difficult. This is why things have been slightly slow this last year. Please bear with me over the next couple of months.

In the mean time I have been busy arranging workshops and day schools along with the City & Guilds classes.

This folded patchwork technique is a day school on Saturday 25th February at Tudor Rose Patchwork
at Oakley near Bedford. If you would like to join the class please get in touch directly with Tudor Rose Patchwork.

Hope to see you there.

Greta Bolster Cushion Pattern

Things have been busy here with the run up to Christmas. The presents are nearly all finished, I am just waiting for some threads to quilt a gift for my father in law. In the meantime I have also been busy with my pattern production. I have several patterns with pattern testers at the moment so there will be some wonderful new designs appearing in 2017.

One which is available now is the second in the Greta range - this lovely bolster cushion.

The pattern snakes its way around the cushion, just like the River it is name after.

It is available from my Etsy shop and also my local patchwork & quilting shops.

Greta Table Runner Pattern

My third pattern has now been published and is available from my local Patchwork & Quilting shops, and also my Etsy shop

The Greta table runner is the first pattern in the Greta series.  The lovely pattern snakes its way along the table runner and used a mixture of appliqué, piecing and bias tape appliqué.

Again it is packed full of diagrams and illustrations.

As I am originally from the English Lake District I have name all my patterns after this beautiful part of England. Greta is the river that runs through Keswick.

If you would like to stock my patterns please email me.
