Focus on - Jenny Jones

Several of my students have recently completed their City & Guilds courses and have kindly given me permission to share their work.

This first post is about the wonderful work of Jenny Jones.

Her patchwork wallhanging was inspired by a visit to 78 Derngate, Northampton. A beautiful house which was re-modelled by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1916.

Each of the blocks in the wall hanging were inspired by different rooms, the stained glass and the decor.

She has really captured the spirit of the house and his work.

Her applique bag shows her attention to detail with hand and machine appliqué and trapunto flowers. The two sides show different seasons which compiment each other perfectly.

It has been lovely to see such wonderful work develop over the last few months.

I hope you enjoy seeing it as much as I did and I would like to offer my congratulations to Jenny on her beautiful pieces.

I have now started to produce my patterns as booklets complete with diagrams  and quilting ideas.
I recently received the first one which was a very exciting day.

They were at the Festival of Quilts at the Tudor Rose Patchwork stand which again was very exciting for me.

I am currently getting the next ones pattern tested and they will be available soon.

This pattern is now available from my Etsy Shop - price £8.99 excluding postage

I have also had several students complete their City & Guilds courses this summer and will post details of their work soon.

sorry it is a short blog post but it is onward with the next pattern.

Happy quilting

Mystery Quilt Finished

Last year some of the students in my Begginners Patchwork & Quilting class at Tudor Rose Patchwork took on the mystery quilt challenge.

On Tuesday we were wowed by Lynns wonderful quilt.

Her choice of fabrics gives the quilt a lovely fresh feel and her quilting is beautiful adding texture to the large triangle corners

I will be renaming this quilt when the pattern is released to "Keswick Quilt"

I will post as soon as it is available.

And Now it's Easter.

I was going to try to blog more this year but time has slipped away and I now find that it is Easter. Where did the time go. I don't think that it helped that I have been working on all sorts of projects which I cannot share as yet. However I am hoping to have some news soon.

In the meantime, I have had students complete their City & Guilds courses
( Congratulations to them all ) and new courses start.

The beginners Patchwork and Quilting classes at Tudor Rose are also proving popular and I have added to my teaching there with two new classes on The first two Fridays of the month.

Cherry is the first to complete the Grasmere quilt which I designed. Doesn't it look great. The pattern for this will be available soon.

I also gave a Japanese Folded Patchwork day school where students could make either a bag or a basket

This is their work in progress on the day.

And I am planning another day school soon, I will post details as soon as they have been finalised.

Happy Easter to everyone.

Half way through January all ready?

Firstly I need to wish everyone a very belated Happy New Year. It has been a busy time and I haven't been able to get to the computer as much as I would have liked over the last few weeks. I have also been having terrible problems with the programme I use for my videos. I upgraded it and everything seemed to go wrong. I am persevering with it though and have managed to put together the final video in the Cutting Mat Bag series and have added the links below.

I also have several students who are finishing their City & Guilds courses this month and I hope to be able to show you some of their work soon.
The next courses will be starting in March at Bee Crafty at Ellington. If you would like details of either the level 1 Patchwork & Quilting or the level 1 Machine Embroidery please get in touch.

I am now going to make a late New Years resolution to start blogging as often as I can.

Have a good creative year

Bev
