UFO finished

At the beginning of this month I shared with you one of my UFO's (unfinished objects)
I had taken a box of rubber washers and wrapped them. The project theme was exploring bubbles and foam.

Now I can show you the finished bowl. It may not be practical but it is certainly more decorative than a box of rubber washers.

Landscape Embroidery

I have recently completed this small embroidery which is an experiment in using one stitch to create a picture.

I chose Blanket Stitch as is is quite versatile, the length of the stitch can be altered. It also has a strong line which was  useful in creating the impression of the tree trunks.

The embroidery was made using stranded cottons on linen fabric. The stranded cottons were blended together. I used one or two strands of different colours together to create more depth.
The picture is going to be mounted over mount board covered with felt and then stitched onto a canvas frame.

It is the first in what I hope to be a series for an upcoming exhibition at John Clare Cottage in Helpston.
